I want to buy my fiance a new engine for his 1972 Super beetle that he is restoring?
26th December 2008
shannon52682 asked:
How do I go about doing this? I need to know what kind of engine is the best to buy and where to look for the best price. Any help? He loves this car and I want to help make it the best it can be but we have to stretch our dollar if you know what I mean.

Ebay.
Sounds like a lame response, but I’m not even kidding. You’ll find awesome deals with great car parts here, with so many to choose form.

chirco.com it sounds as if you want a new engine they sell them. i would suggest going a little bigger than stock (being 1600 cc) maybe like a 1776 cc. with some performance parts, they build good reliable engines with some sort of warantee

Check out some of these vendors they are very well known. I recommend a 1600cc Dual Port this is a standard engine and you can always build it up

I hope he’s restoring to stock an not messing with body mods. On a budget I would do a stock 1600cc Don’t do any thing that will lead to higher r.p.m. winding. High rpm beats the block to death inside unless it has a counter weighted crankshaft. Also don’t install a power pulley, it turns the cooling fan slowly leading to over heating.
