The reason I am asking this, is I don’t know if this is a good candidate for restoration or for modification.
I would drop the trans and put in a larger engine if I had the money, but all that I have done with is is get it running decently again.

If you do not have a lot of money why dump it into a car. Best to just use for basic transportation and forget about restoration until you get rich. If you want to enjoy speed why not go to one of the speed driving classes, they are a blast plus they teach you to how o drive fast.
