I am looking at buying 77 Camaro Hurst Style T-Tops and I was hoping someone could tell me what to ask?
24th August 2007
greendrak asked:
he is asking for $4000. and this is what the add says:
77 Camaro Hurst Style T-Tops that where install as factory aftermarket style because GM did not come out with factory T-Tops until 78 this car has the original 350 engine with a 350 mulit-pattern turbo trans that is rebuit with racing clutches & steels plus a street / strip shift kit . It has new interior that is orange & white. New master cylinder , wheel cylinders , rear shoes with drums , new rims with tires .< He said just nickel and dime things are left. I will be using the vehicle to work and back, it will be baby'd and I will continue the restoration. Not that My father in law used to restore old cars, he died recently and I want my spouse and I to do work on it together, but its to be a surprise. can anyone give me some advice??? Please

You have to go by the way you feel for this car.The money sounds good. These are great cars to rebuild and customize to fit your taste and needs.Best of luck with your choice.

My dad was the manager of the Pontiac body shop back then, and as a kid I remember those Hurst T-tops were about the sorriest ones ever put in a car. The factory T-tops that came out in 78 were MUCH better.
The Trans Ams that had them has TONS of problems, and the Camaros had identical tops.
ALL of them leaked water.
Probably not a bad deal if the car is in good shape, but just beware that you’ll need a garage to keep it in if you don’t want a $4000 gold fish bowl.

Tell him ya wanna drive it thru a car wash and then have a mechanic put it on a rack to check rust damage to the floorboards. By chance is it a Z28? Although with the high compression engine and true dual exhausts( did ya check to see if it is an oem engine? Contact me for correct letters/# on the r/s engine pad located near the front of the head and I’ll tell ya if it is original
