How to I obtain an abandoned title for a car?
26th December 2007
eusdesa asked:
Hi All,
Hi All,
Years go I purchased an older car to restore. I never had the title transfered and now I’m looking to sell the car but I can’t find the title. The person I purchased it from passed away, what can I do to get a title?
Thanks,
Sam

call the dmv and apply for a lost title

Have the local police run the VIN to get a lost title form filled out. They will run the VIN to see if it’s stolen. Take the signed form to the DMV and they will issue you a new title there which you’ll probably get in the mail a week later.
