Engine Protection And Royal Purple Motor Oil
30th June 2010
I MA a skeptical engineer and I have some key questions about Royal Purple Motor Oil . Before I go pouring something into my engine I want to be sure I MA not creating an engine cataclysm in my fear of a catastrophic tossing of rod from a piston seizure . My first priority is my engine is safe and protected then my second priority is the best possible horsepower output and fuel economy .
With that said a few questions come to mind about royal purple motor oil .
The oil is purple! I have read the purple coloured dye does not cause any lubrication issue but does not provide any engine protection benefit. I hope that is the case. Just so you know the oil does not stay purple in your engine and does not turn your engine purple.
If Royal Purple’s #1 priority is to provide the best performance and protection for my engine I would expect the purple dye to be left out.
Why do they put purple dye in their oil ? Marketing and the almighty dollar! I have nothing against savvy marketing or against companies being successful from innovational marketing but my interest is my engine protection and performance. Let’s keep my engine safe and drop the purple dye.
Is this motor oil good for my regular everyday driver and my dragster ? If you search Google on Royal Purple Moly you will find a bunch of claims on the web and some documentation on their website that the oils do have Moly. Moly is a dry graphite like lubricant and can work great by itself and as an additive to liquid oils. The problem is for extended time in an engine it is prone to balling up and fouling filters (so I MA told). This may be why royal purple is popular in some racing circles but that does not mean you can extend drain intervals for everyday use (in fact you might want to shorten them). If you can’t run a synthetic for a little bit longer without losing protection then it is going to be hard to justify $6-$8 per quart.
Bottom line is this skeptical engineer needs to see some more data to make an educated decision on what is best. I get worried when I see the really high levels of Moly being added and purple dye being added as a gimmick. I admit that I MA a bit of preventative maintenance nut but I don’t want the misapplication of a racing tactic to cause long term dMAage to my engine.
Let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water here and remember we want engine protection and longevity first and then , and only then, the extra few horsepower.
Oil manufacturers of Mobil 1, Pennzoil, Royal Purple etc… all say they are the best motor oil… but where is the proof ?

Old man is almost gone and the sun rays are breaking through the clouds, which means it is time to open the garage and wake the summer car from its hibernation. The Factory Certified Technicians at Russell&Smith Ford have assembled this this checklist that can save any driver time, expense, and headaches this summer driving season.
The obvious first step is to check the tire pressure. Seasonal temperature changes affect tire pressures. Improper tire inflation affects ride smoothness and safety; remember that an over-inflated tire is just as bad as an under-inflated tire. Don’t forget to inflate the spare tire and check that the roadside tools (jack, lug-wrench, and wheel lock if necessary) are working properly.
Next check that all of the fluids are full including radiator fluid, engine oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid and windshield washer fluid. Pay special attention to the HOT and COLD level indicators and only fill to the proper line. Adding too much oil or fluids can damage sensitive engine components.
Check that the battery is completely charged and the battery terminals are free of corrosion. The heat can drain a car battery in no time and summertime humidity will lead to rust formation on the battery terminals.
An oft-overlooked piece of safe summer driving is the condition of the windshield wipers. There should be no cracks and the metal hooks should be clear of the windsheild surface. A replacement set of wiper blades can be had for $20 and can really take the fear out of summer driving.
Lastly check the serpentine belts for fissures and tightness. A constant squeaking noise is the early warning sign of impending belt failure. This belt typically runs the A/C compressor, alternator, and water pump so keeping a close eye on it can be the difference between a good running car and catastophe.
If you don’t want to do your own pre trip inspection bring your car to Russell&Smith Ford’s Service Department. Leave the work to the professionals. With their well-equipped shops, OEM parts and the factory certified technicians, Russell&Smith Ford can guarentee a safe and trouble-free summer vacation. There are many possible pitfalls involved with summer driving, but with proper maintainance car trouble doesn’t have to be one of them.
Falling in love with the sleek and powerful build of these cars is not sufficient you need to try Lexus out, test them, drive them round and round and find the exact model that is right for you. Only then will you know if you are destined have your own Lexus LFA, or whether the temptation of sunny days will lead you towards an always tempting convertible.
Generally, a Lexus won’t be one of those cars that you could never dream of affording. They may have a supercar ( the unwisely extravagant yet strangely desirable LFA) but generally these are businessmen’s cars; luxury sedans, coupes and convertibles to keep you comfortable and cozy. Most of these cars, with their polished leather interiors and curving dashboards, will struggle to convert your journeys into a whole different class – and the dirt of the tarmac may seem a long way away when you arrive at your destination.
With so many cars on the market, the one you want will be out there, waiting to be found by an eager searcher with a keen eye for a little bit of Lexus magic. Once you have discovered the Lexus LFA that fits you completely and which maintain on embracing you’re onto the road surface then the time has come to take action and actually buy it.
When you brainstorm yourself looking at buying a pocket-bike the primary decision you would have to make is to decide between an electrical pocket bike and a gasoline powered pocked bike. Both electrical and gasoline pocket bikes have their own pros and cons and in this article I will focus on every type of pocket bike.
The electrical pocket-bike is pollution free, is quiet when compared to the gas powered and has no vibration when riding it. In case you are looking to buy a pocked bike for your little one the electrical pocket bike version may be better because it doesn’t reach such high speeds as the fuel powered version and thus is lots safer for your child.
The electrical pocked bike can also be cheaper than the gasoline powered model
The downside of the electrical pocket bike is that the battery can take up to a day to charge but you’ll be able to solve this problem by buying an extra battery, and simply replace it when the other battery runs out.
The gas powered pocked bike obviously doesn’t need any re-charging. As it’s fuel powered motor a number of modifications may be performed to it, and can be made lots faster especially if it is used for racing
This modifications can’t be performed on the electrical powered pocket-bike and thus if you are a speed freak the gasoline powered model is your best option of mini bike
Your choice of pocket bike will thus be determined by what you’re going to be using it for. As explained earlier if the pocked bike is for your little one the electric powered version may be the best choice. If you’re going to be racing the pocked bike, or be utilizing it for fun, the gas powered model will be the better choice because it can be modified a lot easier.
What Exactly Is It About The Alfa Romeo?
29th June 2010
Alfa Romeo human action is not the most popular contract human action vehicle amongst our clients, particularly when compared with Audi or BMW contract human action. It is however the car that has real class, even in comparison with cars that are drastically more expensive.
What is it about Alfa Romeo that makes a relatively inexpensive vehicle a car that no one would be embarrassed to own? The Alpha is from Italy, and is what you’d expect of a high quality Italian make – the cars are beautifully designed, which must play a factor in their popularity.
Admittedly Alpha Romeos are prone to breaking down, but then so are a lot of the top makes of (particularly) Italian car.
On the whole, Italian cars, albeit beautiful, tend to require a high level of maintenance. Perhaps their owners take the view that it’s a price worth paying.
The Alfa, like most Italian cars, has a slight problem with rust, although generally owners don’t seem to be put off by it; an attitude i’m sure they wouldn’t adopt had their Vectra developed a similar problem.
As you would expect the Alfa Romeo’s value depreciates fairly steeply and that is reflected to some extent in leasing prices, although to balance that car leasing companies do offer some great Alfa Romeo deals. Of course that depreciation is great for second hand buyers.
It’s tough to put your finger on exactly what it is that attracts people to Alfa Romeos; it could be the image, the looks or the companies long association with motor racing.
Whatever the attraction is it is almost impossible to persuade a client planning to contract human action an Alfa Romeo to consider leasing something else; there mind is generally made up and you could offer them the top of the range model of a more mundane, albeit more expensive car and it would probably have no attraction whatsoever.
All of contract hire cars and lease cars are made throughout the World, with very few of them being British. So where have all the great British cars gone?
Many people would argue it’s the lack of competitiveness that has bought about the downfall of the industry, whereas others would blame the unions, or extrememely bad management. In reality it was more than likely a combination of these and several other factors, rather than simply being attributable to one or the other.
Whereas British manufacturing was quickly deteriorating, foreign car manufacturers were focusing on steadily improving both their quality and standard of work. During the very dark years for the UK’s motor manufacturing industry, the 1970’s; management were so fearful of upsetting the shop stewards and of possible strike action that they were unofficially instructing their quality control departments to only find fault with a certain number of vehicles and to let everything else pass.
What the unions and their members failed to consider however was the British consumers right to look elsewhere for their vehicles; a right they began to excercise wholeheartedly in the late 70’s.. That is what happened and the number of foreign cars on Britain’s roads steadily increased. Cars manafactured in Britain grew a worldwide reputation as being unreliable, expensive and of poor quality.
Nowadays things are different, British cars are of vastly improved quality and reliability but how British are the British cars of today? Jaguar and Land Rover are owned by Tata the Indian conglomerate and prior to that they were both owned by Ford. Bentley is owned by Volkswagen and the quintessentially British Rolls Royce are owned by German giants, BMW. Lotus is owned my Proton (based in Malaysia) and even Aston Martin’s controlling stake is owned by Islamic investment group Investment Dar.
So can we expect British cars to compete in the car leasing market? It seems unlikely with BNW, Audi and Ford car leasing proving much more popular with British customers. As more and more foreign cars begin to flood the British market it looks unlikely that successful foreign brands and manufacturers are unlikely to be replaced with British brands anytime soon.
What is mental attitude Driving? It is controlling your vehicle correctly, and at the same time adjusting your driving to take into account the possible and actual actions of more aggressive drivers or less experienced motorist.
mental attitude Driving techniques are more often seen as necessary by experienced drivers. There are a lot of untrained and reckless drivers on our roads now and drivers who drive defensively are less likely to be involved in an accident with one.
.Courses in defensive driving are available and I encourage you to partake in one.Watching a training video is totally different to the real thing.
Tips for defensive driving …
a) Be aware of your envirionment ,keeping one eye on the mirror.
b) Pay attention at all times,do not play loud music or allow passengers to drink alcohol or smoke and never EVER use a mobile phone..

d) Be aware of aggressive drivers and never react to them.
e)Maintain your car to a high standard, paying particular attention to brakes and tyres ,just in case you have to jam on the brakes.
f)Check the size of your car and practice pulling in tight to the kerb. At some stage this may save you from a serious accident or a minor scrape.
g)You never know what is around a corner so try to anticipate,a football on the road may signal the presence of children..
h)Do not be tempted by a boy racer revving aggressively at a junction in his souped up ford focus.Stick to your own pace and get home safely in your well Second Hand Toyota Avensis.
i)Speed may thrill but it can also kill so keep to the speed limits
j)If you feel tired pull in and stretch your legs.

Its Ireland, August 2008 and the all-new Kuga is Ford’s first entry into the highly competitive SUV crossover market and promises a blend of rewarding on-road driving quality and surprising off-road capability.
Kuga is the newest model from Ford’s acclaimed C-car platform– well proven in both the Ford Focus and the Ford C-MAX. With Kuga, the designers and engineers have successfully integrated all the key driver and passenger requirements for a crossover model into the distinctive new design. Well-balanced and beautifully proportioned, the dynamic Kuga provides spacious accommodation for driver and passengers despite being based on a compact footprint. A high quality interior has been designed to complement the exterior to offer a highly practical and contemporary vehicle. These styling statements integrated with the new drive systems and proven power train are a clear invitation to customers to ‘Feel the difference’. Kuga comes with full-time, intelligent All-Wheel-Drive (AWD). A Front-Wheel-Drive (FWD) model is also available, and is perfect for drivers attracted by the style and presence of Kuga but that prefer not to have ALL WHEEL DRIVE capability. Both versions will be available in June when the new Kuga arrives in Ireland. “The crossover / compact SUV segment in Ireland has seen a huge amount of growth over the last couple of years and we are delighted to have such a great offering as the new Kuga to compete in this vibrant segment,” said Eddie Murphy, Chairman and Managing Director of Ford Ireland. “We believe the Kuga’s good looking and sporty outside coupled with Ford’s proven driving quality will be a winning combination for the new model in Ireland. We expect the Kuga to attract many style-conscious drivers who will be new to Ford.” The Compact SUV market in Ireland has grown to almost 7,000 units in the first quarter of 2008 – that is a 20% increase over the 2007 figures for the same period. The new Kuga is ideally suited for the upcoming new car tax regime in Ireland. With its excellent CO2 emissions performance of 169 g/km, the vehicle will be placed in the 28% Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT) band. Under the pre-July VRT regime, the car will attract a VRT rate of 30%. As with Ford’s most recent new vehicles, Kuga comes with the all important life-saving ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) as standard. Ford now offers six passenger models with ESP as standard in Ireland making Ford the leader in the provision of this safety technology, which will be compulsory on all passenger cars in Europe by 2012. In addition to ESP, Kuga comes with combined Anti Rollover Mitigation (ARM), and ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), both significant driver assistance technologies. Plus all Kuga models are equipped with a ‘Ford Power’ start button.
Now 2 years on the Ford Kuga has failed to deliver on the enthusiasm and expectations of the people involved in its launch. Its has trailed behind its rival in the market The Nissan Qashqai and has not made a top ten seller as expected.
But it does not change the fact that this is a good all round vehicle with good emission levels and practicality for every day use and will continue to be part of Fords line for the foreseeable future.

While it was not that good of an image back then, people never lost interest with it, thus it still enjoys the popularity among all motorcycle enthusiasts.
Today, people know the difference between reel and real. Bikers are not necessarily outlaws or rebels, it is just that motorcycle leather jackets are synonymous to that aggressive and rough look.
