Rachel asked:
Hello,
I am a self-proclaimed car newbie looking for an older style VW bug as a daily commuter. Having said that, what major things should I be on the look out for? Aesthetically, it doesn’t have to be too pleasing, so long as it runs well and can get the job done. In the future I may look into full restoration. How much should I expect to pay, and how much should I expect to put into it? Tips for finding a gem?

1969 Super Bee in junk yard – is it an A12?
8th January 2009
tlc289 asked:
The owner, who sounded like he knows a lot about muscle cars, said it’s a 1969 “A12″ Super Bee. What’s the significance of an A12? This car has no engine, significant rust and I don’t even know if the numbers match some sort of registry. It is orange, has had some parts stolen, along with special brackets in engine well to which the hood clamped. When it comes to selling the car, he said that he’d have to look at an offer and be able to say, “Man, I’d have to be an idiot NOT to take this amount of money for the car.” He has already looked into restoration procedures. What might be a good figure to shoot this guy? If the car is as rare as I’m beginning to think (per research) and provided the #s match, is $10k too low? It doesn’t have original motor, is that a problem? Probably not original transmission, either. If u saw three pictures of it (rear qtr panel, front, side, could u tell if it’s an A12? Any help is appreciated.

Restoring a car?
7th January 2009
mirmade13 asked:
I recently took over a car my sister in law had and she ruined badly. The car is only 4 years old and I’m looking to restore it. However, I need to plan on this financially and was wondering if any one knew ABOUT how much each of these would cost to get done. Looking for ballpark estimates.

1)Reupholster the inside
2)Paint job on the body of the car
3)Protective coating on outside of car
Any information you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Where can I find 1932 Chevy parts?
6th January 2009
shel_bug66 asked:
I am beginning a restoration on a 32 5 window and I am having trouble finding NOS type parts. There will be no custom mods on the car, no fabrication or engine swaps, all stock drivetrain etc, etc. I thought for sure there would be parts galore for this car but as I have been searching the web I have not been having good luck. For example, I can’t find a grille shell or headlights, pretty basic parts. Kanter has engine and undercarriage covered pretty good as well as Speedway but no trim pieces and such. Any help to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Or if anyone out there has parts themselves for sale we could talk. I will be needing just about everyting trim on the outside of the car. Vinyl top, running board pads, hood louver trim pieces, headlights assemblies, grille shell. If you have it lets talk or just point me in the right direction. Thanks
Vernon

dodge charger restoration question?
5th January 2009
Kristian55 asked:
Hi. I Found a abandoned 1968 dodge charger. I can get it very very cheap, but its in pretty bad shape… the car hasn’t been running for years, and all the paint is gone, like I said… very bad shape but I can get it for a few dollars. Now I don’t know a thing about restoration or muscle cars in general. But If i get this car, how much will it cost me to restore it, just an ball park figure. It would definetly need some engine work also. The car definetly has potential if it would be in good shape. Is it worth it to buy it and invest money in it? Thanks
Erich

I want to restore either a 67-79 Mustang or a Same Year Challenger or Coronet…(or any other classic or not so classic but powrful muscle car. I was wondering what a ballpark estimate would be if I did most of the work and had a mechanic or specialist do the extreme stuff. Also..I was wondering if the price to restore a car depended on the car itself…if so please give me an example of an easy and cheap to restore car. Thanks in advanced

just me asked:
Here’s the thing. I bought it from this guy. He had been asked a couple years ago if someone could park it on his property for a month. So it has been sitting for at least that long. I bought the car and he gave me a receipt, saying he would get the title to me. It has not happened. (the car is a 1965 if that makes a difference) What are my options? (We want to do a partial restore, mostly just making it fast!!)
