Should I continue my restoration of 1987 BMW 535is or sell it off?
23rd December 2008
David Davis asked:
Hello fellow motorists…I did a complete exterior restoration on my 87 535is and with the exception of a couple minor imperfections the thing is mint and garaged/out of the elements. It needs about $500 to become roadworthy again but I am debating whether or not to sell it and keep the proceeds. It has a great deal of sentimental value to me and I have put quite a bit of cash into it. Also it’ll be a classic car soon…I am looking to do a Leatherique interior restoration and replace fading/tarnished chrome, it looks good as it is though. Any fellow E28 drivers have suggestions? Is it worth keeping as a potential “play-car” for the future (I already own another vehicle for daily use) or do you think I’d be better off just selling the auto? Thx!

Is restoring the incorrect terminology?
22nd December 2008
Zeke asked:
I have no desire to restore a muscle car to factory specs and re-sell it as a vintage car, I just want to take an old muscle car, make it look better than new, give it a stick shift, and make the engine have a nice growl to it…to my knowledge this is not technically considered ‘restoring’ a car…what is this called? Hot rodding? I’m confused!

I have a 1971 Impala that has a 350 4 bbl from a 1974 El camino. I want to rebuild it to a 383 stroker with new high flow heads. I will use all new parts except for the block. Is there any places or websites where I can get the kits and all other necessary parts for this build? Should I stick with factory heads or upgrade? What horsepower rating should I expect to get? This is a project car going through restoration and not a daily driver. Money and time really aren’t major issues, just want it done right. Any help would be appreciated.

How much does a 2 car detatched garage add to the value of your house?
16th December 2008
Corrine G asked:
We have a ranch house with an 2 car attatched garage. We built a 2 car detached garage out back for our restored vehicles. So now we have a total of 4 garages. We are thinking about relocating and wonder how the extra garages will figure into the value of the property. Does that count as square footage or not. Or do we figure in the cost of what it was to built. How do appraisers figure this out. Please appraisers, bankers or realtors only. Thanks

The carpet has already been removed from the car. Just wondering if there are professional services that pretty much restore the carpet to its once youthful appearance

Is this a good deal on an 82′ camaro?
15th December 2008
sroly : asked:
This car runs needs some fine tuning,The body is straight but the paint is faded and oxidized, The interior is good no rips and tears headliner not so good.It has a 2.8 liter motor (I was told it’s a crate motor with about 5k miles) automatic transmission going strong. You can starts and runs but motor is only running on 5 cylinders It has been sitting for while and the gas has probably gone rank.

My dad knows his way around a car and this winter hes going to get a truck to work on. So I want to try and get a little car to work on as I want to go into mechanics and car restoration.
Few questions that I have right now..
If its running on 5-cylinders and its a v-8, is the motor shot? If it would run would it be able to drive? we live 17 miles from the cars location.
Is this even a good deal?
How would you go about cleaning out a rank gas tank? Or would you have to replace the entire thing?
How much would a paint job cost?

Olds 442 restoration question?
12th December 2008
wildbill asked:
My car has black plastic inner fenders. Over time they have faded. Is there anyway to restore them short of painting. Any idea what a decent set would cost. Used not reproductions.
Also need to know how the dash pad comes off.

My best friend and I were having discussion about bills. And as we were discussing important bills like rent and car notes, she brought up the need for hair follicle repair and restoration. Should this be considered a bill? Or is this just another want?
