Im doing a frame off restoration on a 64 Impala. Original engine and transmission are gone, New engine and transmission are from a 2002 Camaro Z28. I want to make sure I am following all emission control laws. Although it is a 1964, the engine and transmission are newer. I would have liked to keep the original engine and transmission, However they were already gone when I purchased this car 3 years ago. Your responses are greatly appreciated.

I don’t have a Merc, but rather a 1965 Daimler 2.5 (same shape as the Jaguar Mk2), and as there’s no Daimler or Jaguar site here, I thought I’d try this one. I’ve completed all the mechanical work on my Daimler, but the paintwork & chrome has not been touched for the past 25 years, and I want to restore it as much as possible myself (out of $). I’ve given it a good wash with a heavy duty truck detergent, and that’s moved 90% of the grime, and I have tried normal car polish and elbow grease, but got nowhere. The colour is BR Green, and the duco is craized in a few spots, but seems otherwise OK (plenty of meat left). Any ideas would be appreciated.

my neighbor has one that looks like it is in good condition, and it has been sitting for many years. How much would I offer him for the car? Am I getting in over my head??

So last week I was helping my fiance with his car restoration (its a 1962 pontiac, big metal car). I was leaning over into the engine area and trying to reach something I had dropped with my right arm, while (without realizing it) I was pressing down on my left **** and kind of squishing it against the metal car. A day later, I noticed I had a bruise in that area. It’s kind of swollen underneath… was purple at first but is now fading to a red color. Its not painful until I press on it. Then, its just a dull pain like a bruise has.

I plan on going to the dr next week because I have had it for a week now and I want to make sure I didnt damage anything inside.. but I was just wondering..

Anyone else ever bruise their *****? Did you feel swelling underneath? How long until it heals? Ow?

I am trying to insure a car that has been restored, but I want to use it as a daily driver. I need some sort of agreed-value insurance because it’s a rare vehicle that wouldn’t be listed with a high value if it was wrecked. However, the vehicle has been recently restored and there is a lot of money and time invested in it.
I haven’t been able to find any insurance companies that will insure a daily driver for an agreed value.
Any suggestions?

I’m looking for a mid 80’s-late 90’s car to pick up for a project. I really don’t want to get a car that’s going to be a frame up type restoration..Basically, I’m looking for a car that I can work on the engine to have a little fun. I’m expecting body work and interior work too though.

I’m open and actually really looking forward to something in the realm of boost.

I’m good to go with a 4 cylinder, but a rotary or V8 would also be really nice. This is going to be a constant work in progress, but for the initial purchase I’d like to spend about 5K.

10 pts to whomever gives a couple suggestions with reasons.
I should mention I would like to stay away from the harder to find cars..example would be an Eclipse GSX…great cars, but hardish to find…and they tend to sell for more than they are worth.
