Is there a way to hardwire an iPod to the speakers of an old car with AM only radio?
29th September 2008
I just completed restoration of a ‘57 Chevy and would like to play songs through the car’s speakers. I’m thinking iPod because it is small and could be hidden. Any suggestions?

Becoming a mechanic, restoration, as a woman?
27th September 2008
I’m a woman who is obsessed with all classic cars. If it’s before 1980, I want to learn about who made it, when they made it, what it has in it, what it looked like on the showroom floor…everything. I have a grandfather who was a mechanic for 35 years. And I’m still in the world trying to figure out where I fit.
I love working with my hands and getting dirty. I love watching projects come together piece by piece. I want to learn how to restore and maintain classic cars. I don’t want to be an everyday Meinike worker. Getting into this business as a woman is still difficult, and my grandfather was always against any of us doing what he did for a living (bad conditions, no education, etc etc), so no support/advice on that end. Would it be worth it? I don’t care about money-wise, I have a husband that makes enough to support us both, who supports whatever path I decide to take. All I’m wondering, as someone who has never personally owned or restored their own classic, is it a reasonable pursuit as a career?

I need some adivice?
23rd September 2008
I have a 1983 Buick Riviera that I am looking to sell.
I am not asking anyone here to buy it, I just need advice.
1) Is it easy to remove paint from a car such as this
2) It has a TH-325 trans in it. How easy is it to drop it and install a new one
3) How easy is it to install larger exhaust manifolds and a turbo (if you can) – it has a 5.0L 307 olds engine
The reason I am asking this, is I don’t know if this is a good candidate for restoration or for modification.
I would drop the trans and put in a larger engine if I had the money, but all that I have done with is is get it running decently again.
Thanks.

Does anyone know of a Restoration shop that works with 1979 to 1993 (Fox Body) Mustangs?
22nd September 2008
I Have a 1982 Mustang GLX 5.0 that I would like to restore. It is a good, car, runs very well, and runs very fast, but it’s not real pretty. I need a place that will go through the car, Repaint the engine block, clean up the engine and drivetrain, repaint engine bay, possibly do some rewiring, and restore the interior as well as possibly do some performance work. I would prefer a Shop in or near Georgia, Does anyone know of anyplace?

I understand that the phrase is sort of an oxymoron, but i’m looking for a muscle car that needs restoration (not complete, but some work) from the 60’s or early 70’s. I don’t know much in regards to what cars were in production back then with the exception of the more common ones such as mustangs, camaros, chargers, etc. Any suggestions on what I might want to look into? Or are there any other muscle cars that I may not know about, but are nice/cool cars? Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
I could get a late 90’s mustang or a lot of other newer muscle cars, but honestly, i dont want it. I’ve saved up money over time, but honestly, I commute to school and my current car (93 camry) gets beat up, which is a lot better than if I had a new car. Hence, why I want to hold on to the camry and invest in a project car to toy around with and work on over the weekends.

I want to get into restoring cars for a hobby need some help?
21st September 2008
Ok this is something I’ve have always wanted to do and lately it has been getting to me!
I’ve been wanting to get into restoring cars. I know I must start small and I am willing to put a lot of time into this.
Where do you think I should start? Are there any good books on the subject that could really help me out I would be willing to go buy them in a heartbeat.
What kinda car do you think I should start with? I really like the VW Rabbits. Well any other advice is great.
Thanks!
Thanks! Tools aren’t a problem and my uncle is a welder and stays across the field from me and will help me with any welding!
I’ll be sure to check out the magazine you mentioned too Nige!
