I have been looking around the internet, but I am having a hard time finding a sold car that is comparable to what I want. I will have to do most of the restoration myself as I can’t afford a finished car. Basically, I want to know how much a solid (as in no major rust problems) mustang with a working v8 should cost me. Any thoughts?

Okay, let’s say you have a 1970 Ford Mustang that originally rolled off the assembly line with a V-6. You go to restore it and instead of rebuilding the old engine, you order a type of V-8 from Ford that would have been available in the Mustang back in 1970. Would the numbers on the V-8 match? Or, could you get one where the numbers matched?

I have a black leather interior in my ten year old car. The seats are mostly real leather and partly pleather. The real leather parts have dried and constricted. In one spot, there is a split in the leather approximately 1 inch long which exposes the padding underneath. I’d like to know how to mend the split, as every time someone sits on it there is potential to make it worse. I’d also like to know how to rejuvenate the leather so it’s not so dry and tight.

It should be before the eighties because I heard that that was when cars started getting complicated electronics. It shouldn’t be too expensive to buy unrestored and it shouldn’t be before the 50’s or so because before the 50’s they were all ugly.

So far I’ve mostly been considering a Nissan 280zx or 240zx. Then maybe a Mustang, Impala, Camaro, or Firebird. So yea… Thanks for all your suggestions…

I have a couple of interviews for an apprenticeship coming up and I was wondering which would be better to take up. On one hand there’s a independent porsche shop that deals maintenance/upgrades with old and new porsches and on the other hand there’s this independent european specialist shop that deals with reparing all types old euro cars but mainly specializing in english cars as well as doing frame work/body work and full mechanical restoration. Which career direction would be better to take for my own future’s sake? Your answers will greatly be appreciated!
