Should I restore the car or sell it?
31st May 2008
I have an 83′ Monte Carlo. For the most part the car is in “fair” condition, other than a few rust spots here and there. However there is one really bad rust spot in the trunk that needs fixing.
I bought the car in hopes of fixing it but mom wants me to sell it so I need to know what to do.
The motor in the car is a 350 that is in pretty good condition other than a blown head gasket and something else. I got a quote from a good friend of mine who said he would fix the motor for about 150 or 175 dollars.
Paint on it is crappy but you can always get that done at a later time.
I am in love with my car, it’s my first car. I don’t have any intentions on ever selling it I just want to be able to make it a really reliable car and driving it.
As for the guy that will fix it he is really good with cars he is just going to do me the favor.
It just ***** b/c I have an awful job and need to bring in more money to make any real improvements on the car.

I want to restore a 1973 firebird and want to know what classes I need to take.

I’ve got an 83 928S with 130000 miles on it. It just went through a nose to tail restoration on the body and interior, but the engine and ****** are origional. My mechanic says the engine was run very hard by the previous owner, and may only last another year. He suggests that an LSI (chevy V8) swap may be a good idea when my engine fails. The alternative is a very expensive rebuilt 928 engine. I love this car, but concern it will lose its Porsche-ness if I drop a non-Porsche engine in…even though it will be more powerful and reliable. Thoughts on if this exchange will get me kicked out of the Porsche Club of America for bastardizing this car? Thanks for your input.
Truthfully, I could care less about the club members think…just curious what other porsche owners would do in my situation. Also, the LS1 I would get installed is only $2500, and would shave 2 seconds off 0-60 and 3-4 off the 1/4 mile…I’d need a $8000+ 928 GTS engine to compete with those numbers…which makes me lean heavily toward the LS1
And, I do love that Porsche feel…would **** to lose it…

I bought a crashed car and I would like to restore it in order to sell it again.
I bought a crashed car and I would like to restore it in order to sell it again. I got a Toyota Yaris 2007, the front part and the back part are slightly damaged. Then engine needs to be fixed as well. I am going to take it to a repair shop, before doing that, I would like to know how much time I will have to wait before I get it repaired

when i bought my Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, the previous owner had removed the driver side “V6 24 Valve” decal. i just aquired a new one from a crashed Eclipse [by peeling it off], and would like to restore my car’s “factory look” and was wondering what type of glue i should use so that if for some reason i decide to take it back off or if it peels off that it doesnt take the paint off with it.
what does the factory use when they make the car?

Would you drive this car?

Ok so my dad has a 1968 ss Chevelle…lol
Its undergoing some major restoration, but it runs fine and its in my driveway.. only thing is…
Where it says “reverse” is actually “drive”
and where it says “drive” is actually “park”
“neutral” is “reverse”….
I know these things but whenever I get in.. I’ll forget…lol I should just leave it along shouldnt I…
But I wanna driiive it!

This question is for auto restoration enthusiasts?

I still own the 1970 Nova bought for me in 1975 as a graduation present. I have kept the car rust free and in absolute great running condition through-out the years. The one and only place that I evidently ignored was the front gutter system. Now the car leaks very badly onto both front floor boards if ever out in the rain. My question is: How hard is it to reach the affected area for repairs? Will the dash have to come out, or is this something that can be done from the outside? If no serious rust, then will regular seam sealer fix this?

Restoring a classic or buying a new car?
25th May 2008
I found a 1969 Z28 camaro I want to buy. The body is straight with a few little dings but needs paint. Interior needs complete restoration. 302 V8 engine runs and is complete. 4speed transmission and rear end also work but are old. I want to rebuild this car and keep it maybe give it to my son when he’s older. My wife dosent understand this find, she thinks I should buy a new car. The price is right and I think it’s a good investment. Does any one know how hard it might be to find parts for a car like this?
