My husband is insisting that he can get a special “two day” permit for the car he is restoring so he can drive it to and from the shop and not have to have insurance on it. We got into an argument about it because I said there is no way the DMV would give a permit to drive a vehicle without insurance and he says I’m wrong. I looked all over the DMV website and I can’t even find any mention of this special permit. Is he making this up?

I am wondering what would be a better car and investment. I was debating whether to buy a brand new 350z convertable and put twin turbo’s on it or to restore my 1994 300zx convertable. I would spend about 25k on my 94 300zx which would go towards new motor&stillen twin turbo kit including intercoolers, bov’s intake, full kit in other words. body kit with a complete paint job, worth about 8k for install and paint, not a crappy one. I also would redo the leather, suede, dash, door panels, and consoles on the interior. I would add a new top also, and then to top it off do headers catback exhaust, the entire intake and under drive pulleys. I want to get it to do about 375 hp. And then add a stronger transmission. I want to redo everything pretty much, and if i have extra i would redo suspension and brakes, but that would be the last thing i would upgrade. also new rims and tires. So do i buy a 38,000 car and spend another 10 k, or spend 25k on a very rare car? What would you prefer
i would like to add one thing though, the twin turbo 300zx is faster than the 350z out of the factory

My son was involved in a collision this morning. The driver of the other vehicle pulled out right in front of him and he rear-ended them. The driver of the other vehicle was cited for failure to yield and the state trooper that handled the accident said that the collision was unavoidable on my sons part. The question concerning me is that my son did not pay anything for the car he was driving because it was given to him by my daughter. The car has a salvage title because it had apparently been totalled before but had been restored. The car probably would not be worth very much even had it never been in an accident because it is a 1986 year model Pontiac 6000. Now he is without transportation unless I provide it. Will they only be required to pay a salvage price for damages or what?
Jim C, my son was not at fault here. I know what you’re saying as far as hitting someone in the rear-end is almost always the fault of the driver that struck another vehicle’s rear-end. They will ticket the rear vehicle for following to close. The vehicle he struck pulled out in front of him and he had no chance to avoid the collision. As I stated earlier, the other driver was cited for failure to yield. My son was not cited for anything.

How To Lower A Car?

FirebirdMan54321 asked:

Can anyone tell me how to go about lowering my classic restored car? It really sits higher than I would like it to. Someone mentioned using a torch to the springs and the car will lower. What are all the options about going for the lowering of the car? I know the ride is rougher but, it’s not an everyday driver, it only goes to shows. So, that is not a concern at this time. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I want to restore a small sports car to running condition, just to tool around town. I would like any information on how much it might cost to restore one on average. I understand that this is tough to answer but would like any advice that you might have on the cost of restoring it.
