How best to Restore Muscle Car Interior Dash, etc?
30th June 2007
gato_del_sol_3 asked:
I’m trying to restore the plastic ‘chrome’ trim in an old car and where it is raised (and quite thin) it used to have a ‘chrome’ look to it, especially on the dash pieces, console, and around the dash bezels. I’ve seen Mr. G’s in Fort Worth, but how best to “do it yourself” in terms of paint? Are there Chrome Paint pens like magic markers? I’ve seen the spray paint in Chrome, but these would be most difficult to tape off and prep for a spray. Anyone have any ideas???? Thanks.

ksi asked:
My brother and I are restoring a ‘67 Impala and when trying to paint over some rust spots on the car, he accidentally got spray paint (black) on the chrome trim. I am trying to find out the best way to clean it off without damaging anything. Would it be the same for painted chrome trim, silver, or anything else of the like? I’ve heard of WD40, acetone, also the Magic Erasure. Any tips? Has it worked for you? Thank you all so much for the time and help!

Natural pest/mice control?
27th June 2007
Teresa asked:
MN is starting to get cold, so here come the mice! I haven’t found this season’s entry point to plug up yet, so need a non-toxic deterrent. My son said his car restoration books advise putting cubes of Irish Spring out, as the scent is so strong mice won’t come around. Is this true? If not, what else? We were using live traps for several years, but many of the little buggers are now figuring out how to escape them!

Hand wax my car or have the clear coat restored?
24th June 2007
Bebe asked:
My car is brilliant black and it has some scratches in the clear coat.I’d like to know what my best alternative is. In case I take it to the dealership, will they have to do some body work or apply a new layer of paint? I’m guessing that they won’t apply paint the same way they do at the factory. Thank you!
