I have always been intersted in classic cars since I was a kid. and it has been a dream of mine to fully restore a classic chevy muscle car like a 69 nova or camaro or 67 chevelle. But I am having trouble trying to find a cheap one ready to be restored. Any help would be greatly apprecitated

My license was suspended for 90 days, and the suspension just ended on Dec. 31st. I still need to mail in the restoration paperwork, and pay a small fee. Once this paperwork is received by the DMV (or whoever I’m supposed to mail it to), and my driving privileges are restored, can I legally drive a car as a licensed driver while I’m waiting to receive my license in the mail? I’ve heard that if you are pulled over while driving without your license that you have a certain amount of time to produce proof that you are a licensed driver…is this true?

My camaro was sort of bastardized. It has a sunroof (ugh), the interior is gone (as it should be, with a 40 year old car), there is the typical rust in the common areas (rear quarters, under the windshields front and back, trunk, etc), and the floor was cut to fit a 4 speed shifter and the hole is gaping.

Anyone have any advice as far as what steps to take first? I am a weekend mechanic and thusly do not have have all the tools I wish I had. I plan to get a welder and do some of the bodywork myself.

I replaced the battery in my 1993 Saab 900 Turbo in the dark….I accidentally reversed polarities at the cables but quickly disconnected and corrected them….the car then stumbled to a start, seemed to sort itself out and I have had no further problems with it.

However, the brand new OEM Clarion AM/FM cassette deck and separate Clarion console mounted EQ went completely dark….

I am hoping for a blown fuse somewhere in line but nothing in the owners manual or Hayne’s Saab Repair book says anything about it’s location….I hope I am not SOL with this part of my restoration.

Ok, im restoring an 86 camaro. Tore out the carpet and there is a rediculous amount of rust on the passenger side of the car at the foot rest. Its kinda got some bumps and unevenness.

This is a low budget restoration, no big machines or warehouses. Just metal, some hammers, a metal cutter, and a welder.

Q: What is the easiest (and cheapest) way to make a mold of the floorpan, say abt 1′ x 1′ area, so i can then replicate it by bending a piece of metal.

I remember in elementary school, we used to do this thing as an arts and craft activity. We’d make this gooey mixture, cut up strips of paper, dump them in, and then put them on something. It would harden in a short matter of time and create a nice mold. We used to make like masks with it.

anyone know what that is called, how to do it, or what materials i need?

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read + reply. Any help would be great!

I might buy a Jensen-Healey which is in good condition under the hood but it is literally sitting under bags of garbage. The interior is pretty good but could use some TLC. How much would it cost to clean up a classic car. Maybe a new hood, new interior (seats). I’m not asking to change the engine or anything severe. I want to keep it looking how it was when it was made.

I have a couple of interviews for an apprenticeship coming up and I was wondering which would be better to take up. On one hand there’s a independent porsche shop that deals maintenance/upgrades with old and new porsches and on the other hand there’s this independent european specialist shop that deals with reparing all types old euro cars but mainly specializing in english cars as well as doing frame work/body work and full mechanical restoration. Which career direction would be better to take for my own future’s sake? Your answers will greatly be appreciated!
