Restoring an old car?
24th April 2007
just me asked:
I am restoring an old car and need to put in insulation on the inside of the roof and a new headliner. My hope was to also put a new windshield in at the same time, any suggestions on these?

I have very little knowledge about cars and body work! Just curious because i would really enjoy doing this if i could make a decent living and could make it happen in like four years or so.

The Bandit asked:
We have a 67 Mercury Cougar with a 289, but we aren’t totally sure that it’s the original engine. We have no idea where the FoMoCo small blocks put the block casting numbers. If we can find the numbers, we can see if it’s the original engine and decide whether to do a full restoration or to customize the car.

I have a friend selling his 1969 XR7. The car is in pieces, and will require a complete restoration. The body is solid, and reasonably straight. No front end collisions ever. Rear ended, and straightened at some point. 351 W, bored .060 over, balanced and blueprinted. No intake or carb. Headers look ok. Glass is fine.

when i bought my Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, the previous owner had removed the driver side V6 24 Valve decal. i just aquired a new one from a crashed Eclipse [by peeling it off], and would like to restore my car’s factory look and was wondering what type of glue i should use so that if for some reason i decide to take it back off or if it peels off that it doesnt take the paint off with it.

Could there be a structural problem if I put a 289 in a 66 Mustang manufactured with a 6 cylinder engine?
19th April 2007
troy asked:
Mustang, all original matching #s 6 cyl engine currently under restoration considering a 289. worried that there was more than one platform for that make and additional power could damage the car? Am I crazy? how do you know you’re right? I am not doing the work, I am not experienced, laymens terms will be appreciated. I have heard both yes it could damage. and, No way it could. I don’t know who is right.
