what are the risks of buying a vehicle that has a restore/salvage title?
27th February 2007
There is an 04 honda accord that was in an accident and has been restored. What should I look for what kind of things could be wrong when buying a car that has been repaired after a crash.

i think the lyrics are like “restoration across the nation” there are cars driving around and sitting in driveways with parts stripped away. Sounds like it has choir in background?

How hard would it be to restore an old VW Bus?
20th February 2007
I think it would be really cool/fun to do some work on an old VW bus.
A few questons…
1.On estimate, how much would it cost me to pick one up that needs some repairs? Not anything major like completely replacing its guts… but i wouldn’t want it in very good condition either, because then it would be really expensive just to buy. Preferably one of those cool late ’60s or early ’70s ones.
2. How much would the repairs cost me? (obviously depends on the condition, but just an estimate)
3. How hard would it be? I’m not necessarily a “car guy” (this would be my first restoration), so if this particular model is particularly hard to work with then I’ll drop this idea. But I want to start learning more about fixing cars and this can be be the beginning. Kind of a learning process. My brother knows a ton about cars so I’m sure he can help with anything I don’t know how to do.
Any question you can answer would be greatly appreciated. Or any other advice. Thanks!

Remanufactured Body Parts?
18th February 2007
Hello, I have a 1974 Pontiac GTO, and I have a few questions about finding parts and finding body kits. The body on it is fairly good, but there are some parts on it I would like to fix. Some of these areas include above the tail lights where the trunk lid sits on is rusty, some areas around the doors and hood are a little bad. I was wondering if anyone knew where to find parts for this car, since everywhere I look I can only find parts for 64-73 and I dont konw why. What is so wrong with the ‘74 that no one wanted to sell restoration parts for it? Thanks

Why do they charge a ridiculous $80,000 plus on old used classic cars from the 60s and 70s?
16th February 2007
I think they’re a ripoff to be charged that much. New 8-cylinder sports cars cost like TransAMs and Camaro Z28s cost less than $20,000 back in 2002, and they have these dumb, old used cars probably with a million miles on them (literally), to be charged 4 times that?
I know they’re old, I know they’re restored, I know they’re from the far, far back from the 60s and 70s, but there’s no way I would pay that much for a car that worse off in ins true ability as opposed to what cars made from 2002 can do.
Comparing a 40 year old car to one just hald a decade old, the newer one is much more improved by comparison. I’d much rather spend $80,000 on a Dodge Viper than and old 60s Dodge Charger that is indeed slower than the Viper.

I have some but not a lot of auto repair experience. That said, I’ve long wanted to get into restoring cars as a backyard hobby. I’d love to get into something like an early 1970s 911s but suspect I should start w/ something easier.
That said, what do you recommend for a good first car? A VW bug or Kharman Ghia or maybe a 914? Or something else?
