Cheap muscle car suggestions?
22nd September 2008
barnaby8787 asked:
I understand that the phrase is sort of an oxymoron, but i’m looking for a muscle car that needs restoration (not complete, but some work) from the 60’s or early 70’s. I don’t know much in regards to what cars were in production back then with the exception of the more common ones such as mustangs, camaros, chargers, etc. Any suggestions on what I might want to look into? Or are there any other muscle cars that I may not know about, but are nice/cool cars? Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
I could get a late 90’s mustang or a lot of other newer muscle cars, but honestly, i dont want it. I’ve saved up money over time, but honestly, I commute to school and my current car (93 camry) gets beat up, which is a lot better than if I had a new car. Hence, why I want to hold on to the camry and invest in a project car to toy around with and work on over the weekends.

You could probably pick up a Nova SS for a fairly good price. But it all depends on how much work needs to be done to any car your looking at. another one you might want to look into would be a Pontiac Lemans or Trans Am.. Do a little bit of looking around and you will find one you like.

You probably don’t have enough cash for a 60’s or ’70’s muscle car. Look for a late ’90’s or early 00’s Mustang GT or Cobra. Tons of potential with a good secondary market for speed parts.

Times are tough and toys are the first things people sell if they need the cash – but don’t look for an early Mustang, Camaro, Chevelle, Charger, etc….for a deal unless you plan on some restoration work.
