What is Driving? It is controlling your vehicle correctly, and at the same time adjusting your driving to take into account the possible and actual actions of more aggressive drivers or less experienced motorist.

Driving techniques are more often seen as necessary by experienced drivers. There are a lot of untrained and reckless drivers on our roads now and drivers who drive defensively are less likely to be involved in an accident with one.

.Courses in defensive driving are available and I encourage you to partake in one.Watching a training video is totally different to the real thing.

Tips for defensive driving …

a) Be aware of your envirionment ,keeping one eye on the mirror.

b) Pay attention at all times,do not play loud music or allow passengers to drink alcohol or smoke and never EVER use a mobile phone..

c)Look out for things that may distract another driver, for example pet dogs or children having a tauntrum.

d) Be aware of aggressive drivers and never react to them.

e)Maintain your car to a high standard, paying particular attention to brakes and tyres ,just in case you have to jam on the brakes.

f)Check the size of your car and practice pulling in tight to the kerb. At some stage this may save you from a serious accident or a minor scrape.

g)You never know what is around a corner so try to anticipate,a football on the road may signal the presence of children..

h)Do not be tempted by a boy racer revving aggressively at a junction in his souped up ford focus.Stick to your own pace and get home safely in your well Second Hand Toyota Avensis.

i)Speed may thrill but it can also kill so keep to the speed limits

j)If you feel tired pull in and stretch your legs.

Safe home everyone
